Extruded Cut Solidworks Sheet Metal

This is available only when sheet metal features are present in the featuremanager design tree.

Opens the sheet metal part. The link to thickness option is useful in sheet metal parts because the part must be of uniform thickness. You can make cuts across bend lines. Open the immediate window.

In an existing sheet metal part click unfold or insert sheet metal unfold. One of the parts is bent from 1 inch plate which makes me want to model it as sheet metal. The unfold propertymanager appears. Creates cut extrude2 which is an optimized normal cut extrude.

As far as i can tell tho sw will only let me cut the sheet metal perpendicular to the face but i need to cut 5 deg from normal. New in solidworks 2012 is the ability to have an extruded cut across a sheet metal bend that doesn t go through the entire thickness and is still able to be. Cutting at an angle just seems to make a larger normal cut. In the sheet metal shop the hole will be punched on the flat sheet before the bend which the sketched bend feature in sw sheet metal for so just create a flat sheet add extrude cut and let the sketched bend feature takes care the rest.

Adds draft to the extruded feature. If the depth of the original extrusion changes the new one changes to match it.
